'We loved staying in your flat. It is beautiful, the views from the windows and from the rooftop were breathtaking. I congratulate you on the way you have remade the whole house. You've done fantastic job! Honestly, the photos don't do it justice! It was like home away from home. It was wonderful to come home at night.' K.S. ( and a family of 5 ), Mexico

Cozy well appointed cottage

We found Eltham to be the best of both worlds in London town! As a home base this two bedroom cottage, in a pleasant residential area, was a short walk from a variety of amenities...restaurants, Corso coffee shop, pubs, grocery stores and bus and train transport. A 20 minute train ride takes you to central London and 30 minutes by bus to Greenwich centre where we enjoyed the Saturday market, Cutty Sark, Greenwich Observatory, and Naval College. Eltham Palace is literally in the backyard and well worth a visit. Our hosts Allan and Lana were very kind and super helpful! Would definitely stay here again!

Beautiful Apartment in Eltham

A. and L. are great hosts who have created a very comfortable space that can accomodate 5 people. We were a married couple with 3 adult single travelers as well. The kitchen is spacious and the dining room table was ample in size. Perhaps the best part was the backyard and the surrounding Eltham Palace and grounds which offer an amazing view of London at night. There are two train stops within 10 minute walking distance (or you can take the bus that stops within 25 yards of the front gate which will take you to the train station) from the front gate. The London Bridge station was less than 30 minutes away. The restaurants and shops of Eltham are 2-3 blocks from your front door and we were able to park inside the gate off of the street and leave our car there as we traveled into London for sightseeing. thanks to A and L for showing us around your beautiful home and good luck with your current renovations!

Lovely Cottage w/o hot water

We loved the cottage, the hosts, Alan & his wife, the beautiful spacious backyard, the ping pong table, the trampoline, comfortable beds, but we were out of hot water two days out of the four we stayed for. We had to take multiple trains to get into London Center. It was a 5 minute walk to the train station.

Very Nice Cottage in a convenient location

A nicely renovated cottage/former coach house. Alan is still renovating the main house next door - just finishing the basement currently, but that did not interfere with our stay. Sleeps 5 comfortably - 4 in the two bedrooms upstairs and one on the pull-out sofa bed in the living room. Alan was able to accommodate us on very short notice - one day - and we had a great week here.

Good location close to Central London

The location is easy to find if you will travel by car or train. It is well equipped and a good base for trips to Central London. The Landlord is very polite and will help you immediately if there is a problem.

We were do looking forward to the Shangri la of Alan's back yard oasis. One of the main reasons to book here, so far out from London. To be able to have the french doors open in the morning and eve , for kids to play, and us to sit out at the little table on the cottage private deck. When we arrived after traveling over night, and delayed flights, Alan immediately told us there was construction going on. He is building a pool right beside and under the cottage! He offered us to move to one of their downtown area apartments, which of course we did not want to do after 24 hours of travelling. He did insist on giving us 100 GBP and waving the cleaning fees . The next morning a crew of brick layers and cement truck arrived, and it was like this the entire time we stayed. We were unable to use the yard , and out little deck became the workers place to put their music that they played and drinks. We had to draw the drapes as the workers could look right in on us. It was so loud. We were living in the middle of a construction site! We lost water one day completely. We were told this happens in London, but I believe it was from the workers using his water supply to hose out the cement truck right beside our cottage. Their other renters were women who came home late drunk, and had men come in to the secured gates at 3 in the morning. waking us 2 nights in a row. The pizza delivery man banging on our door scaring us, banging on the wrong door. The cottage needs a good clean. The rugs and sofa are very dirty and stained. We could not access back up toilet paper. They should at least supply a box of kleenex, paper towel, or a extra dish cloth. Compared to our 2nd VRBO, the cottage comes across as cheap an after thought. They are much more concerned with renovating their mansion than keeping clean and stocking the cottage. Alan had many opportunities to tell us of the construction when we were in multiple email contact. He should have told ,and given us a option BEFORE we travelled all that way to his home, that is in neglect and is ground zero of a construction zone. Very unprofessional and very unkind. Their pool will partially be under the cottage deck with a see through flooring to see their family swimming under your deck! Would not recommend this place nor stay there again. Shame on you for not being honest and up front.

Dutch family

Very nice place! Good beds, good kitchen and a nice garden. Very kind owner! From Eltham it´s easy to go by train to London. In Eltham very beautiful Eltham Palace to visit.

We stayed with family of 6 with 4 children, it is good place with nearby market.

Place is good with back yard play ground and warm leaving/sleeping rooms with market nearby. Quite place for family in high end area of Eltham. Only we found a bit slow net connection, rest very good.

Great Location, Great Hosts

The cottage was amazing location, the hosts were well organized and very gracious people. Perfect location to go into London. We were also able to rent a car from a local place (Lane's Driving School ~15 Euro cab ride there from cottage). We then used the cottage as a launching point to see other castles and sights in the area. The hosts made an amazing recommendation related to stopping at Canterbury on the way to Dover and Hever Castle on the way to Brighton Pier which made for really amazing day trips. Also the cottage was close to a very nice area with grocery stores and restaurants and the local Indian Restaurant (another recommendation) was great delivery after a really long day. The backyard was amazing to let kids play while we cooked dinner and just enjoy the life after trekking through England. This cottage really helped make our trip an amazing success. The one item I would make sure is that you do your laundry early as they have a combined washer/dryer so it does take longer for a load of laundry. It worked fine I just had never used one before.

Eltham Coach House

Our family of four had the pleasure of staying in the Coach House for a week this past March. In preparing for our stay and while we were there, our emails and questions were dealt with promptly and courteously. The Coach House itself was very clean, nicely decorated and appointed, and featured modern high end fixtures and appliances. We really appreciated the warmth of the radiant floor heating after sightseeing during what was a particularly cold week in March! It quickly became our home away from home as the shops of Eltham High Street were literally a five minute walk away. Our daily commute to London consisted of a short walk to Eltham Station and about a 20 minute train ride into either Victoria or London Bridge Stations to connect to the Tube. We had a fantastic time staying in the Coach House and would recommend this safe location to anyone wanting to have access to London as well as proximity to the beauty of Greenwich and the surrounding area.

Okay place to stay

The coach House was close to Eltham station so it was easy to get in and out of London. Son Samuel enjoyed the play equipment in the garden, although it is shared with the owners. They did have a barbecue whilst we were staying there and the noise made it hard for us to relax and watch the TV. Thankfully it ended when we wanted to retire to bed.We found the rooms too light at night time. The arched frosted window in the main bedroom meant this room didn't really get dark. There were a few things that didn't spoil our stay but showed a lack of attention to detail - a cracked floor tile in the bathroom in the main bedroom made a horrible noise every time it was stepped on - tree light near bath had bulbs not working and even some where the glass had shattered and it had been left like that. Although this was okay for our stay here We are not sure we would return.

Home Away From Home

We stayed in the Coach House for a week and could not have enjoyed it more. It was extremely comfortable and had all the amenities, just like having your home with you on vacation. The garden was absolutely beautiful and we enjoyed looking out while having our meals. Lana and Alan were very accomodating and provided some great suggestions for eating and exploring. We travelled back and forth to London daily using the train (from both Eltham and Mottingham - both around a 7 minute walk) and enjoyed the commute. It was lovely to come back after a day of exploring London (unusually cool and rainy for May) to a toasty warm accomodation (in-floor heat) and quiet. We explored Eltham and shopped and ate a few times there (Yak & Yeti is particularly good) but loved Blackheath (only a short train ride away). It had lots of charm and great restaurants. Thank you for making our holiday one to remember. We look forward to coming back to stay again.

An Amazing Place to Stay!!

I have to say that I absolutely LOVE London, but Alan and Lana made the trip just that much better. They were extemely helpful with any questions that I had and arranging the taxi service from the airport. We flew into Stansted, which was a perfect location. The taxi was about half the cost through their recommended company than the car hire "taxi" at the airport. We stayed in the Coach House, which was absolutely beautiful!!!! I have three girls and it was great to have a lovely back yard for them to play in at the end of the day. Our family thought this was a perfect location. I have stayed in "downtown" London before and found it rather noisy at night, as most big cities are. This was perfect, quiet, and very comfortable beds for a great nights sleep. The walk to the train was easy. We used both the Mottingham and Eltham train locations which are (overground). I have to say we preferred Mottingham, but used Eltham depending on the departing and arrival train from Charing Cross (underground). All were very easy to navigate and ran late into the night. We felt very safe the entire time and didn't come home until very late, 11pm or 23:00, in the evening after seeing Wicked and Les Miserables. I can't say enough about the hospitality of Alan and Lana, their son was great also. They went above and beyond being helpful to me and my family. More so than any other place we have stayed. We have stayed in 12 different countries thus far and they were by far the BEST!!!! I would HIGHLY recommend this Coach House to all my friends and when we come back to spend holiday in London again this is where we will be staying. Thank you for a FABULOUS place to experience London!!!

Fantastic rental in quiet secluded location

This accomodation was fantastic and we had a great three days and three nights. the accommodation was spotlessly clean, the facilties were fantastic and the garden was beautiful. We had a couple of trips into Greenwich whilst staying there which took just 10 minutes by car and the stations are very close. The bedrooms were lovely and the victorian style bath was beautiful! Kitchen was great and well equipped. We hope to return in the future.

H.-P. member of a rental party

We have spend 7 days in July 2010 in that Penthouse. Due to an aircraft delay we arrived late in the night and we got great assistance from Alan, who collected us from the railwaystation with his car. After that he helped us to carry our luggage into the penthouse. Then he showed us all the rooms and gave us some explanations for the next day. Lana and Alan have given to us a very worm and friendly reception. The 2 bedrooms, the 2 bathrooms, the living room and the kitchen were very comfortable and light flooded. There is also a roof terrace and a great garden. The interior of the rooms gave the penthouse a luxory outfit. It is part of a house with a great history. From the house you can walk in two directions to two railwaystations: 1st Mottingham station; 2nd Eltham station. From there you can go by train to the center of London within 15-20 minutes with 4 or 5 stops only. Behind the house is the Eltham palace located. If you stay there, you must see it. The time that we have spend in that penthouse was phantastic, everything was very clean and the property was well-maintained. We would like to say "thank you" to Lana and Alan, who have given to us more than a good customer service. And we will come back to London, to Eltham, to that penthouse and first of all to Lana and Alan. Our best wishes and greatings from Cologne / Germany Hans-Peter, Brigitte and Ruth

5 Star Accomodation With Reasonable Rate

My family of 6 from Kuala Lumpur,Malaysia stayed in the apartment for 9 nights in June 2010 and we very much enjoyed our stay there. The apartment is located in a very beautiful compound and safe area. We easily reach central London in 40 min using efficient public transport. The apartment is clean with all necessary equipments provided that you feel like staying in a 5 star hotel! Alan & Lana have been very friendly, helpful and informative. We definitely would recommend to those who love natural environment and cool setting apartment.

Excellent choice for visiting London!

This place was exactly as described. It was very clean and well maintained. We are a family of four from the United States, stayed here for two weeks. Had a great time, short walk to the train station. Great train service. House is close to shopping, kitchen is very useable, Washing machine with dryer was great. The three bathrooms were ideal! The owners were very helpful, suggested places to visit and shop. After a hectic day of touring London, it was great to come to the house and relax in a peaceful and quiet setting. We would recommend this house to everyone!

Lovely Coach House

My family stayed in the coach house for a week and found it an excellent place to stay. The house was very clean, comfortable and had a well stocked kitchen. The grocery store (Sainsbury's) was a short walk away - there was also a small Marks and Spencer that had a nice grocery section. The owners were very helpful and friendly. My children enjoyed playing in the backyard after long days of sightseeing. The train was very easy to get to (10 min. walk) and brought us to London Bridge, Charring Cross or Victoria stations. Also loved the fireplace on the chilly mornings - heated up the place quickly. We would definitely stay here again when traveling to London. Highly recommend!!!

Visiting London

We recently rented the coach house property for our family of 4 adults, set of parents with 2 grown children and loved it. It was located near Greenwich, which we loved exploring and near enough to downtown London to fully appreciate the many attractions located in cenral London via train (which took approximately 25 minutes). I found the trains confusing but my husband and daughter navigated them quite well. Getting there via train from Heathrow was a little frustrating (but this may have been due to our lack of experience with the trains). The owners were very friendly and helpful. The coach house was clean and had a very new architectural design. It provided us with just enough room for our family to relax after a hard day of sight seeing. The 2 bedrooms were upstairs and the main living area was downstairs. I could go upstairs and rest while the family was downstairs and did not hear any noises, only birds chirping outside my window. You may find the stairs a difficult challenge if you have a disability. The rooms were filled with light, lots of windows. What we enjoyed most was that we could avoid the hectic life of a big city and enjoy London the way many residents do, via commuter train, and experience their lifestyle. Trains were a short walk from the coach house. The neighborhood was very nice, lots of beautiful homes on the street. Good restaurants were found in a town nearby called Blackheath. Our whole family enjoyed it. We stayed there a week and later rented a car and drove to Yorkshire. There we stayed in a very nice hotel but were bothered by the constant slamming of doors throughout the night. We missed the quiet, lovely coach house in Eltham.

Great Penthouse Stay

Lovely modern and luxury penthouse with very friendly owners. Extremely spacious. Definitly worth recommending. Time to london was also very accurate as stated in their brochure.

We spent 5 days in the cottage during Christmas. All fantastic. Lana answered all our numerous questions fast and perfectly by mail before, and Alan welcame us 7 hours after our appointment (due a great delay of our flight) with a smile and a bottle of milk because all was closed! They are great hosts!! The cottage is like one of an interior decoration magazine, all new and with all details and a very elegant taste. We stayed 6 persons with total comfort, only one of us must sleep in the sofa, and it was comfortable too. One of the things we like the best was the comfortable heating these cold days, it´s fantastic arrive a warm home after a tiring day!! Was a pity that we couldn´t enjoy the big garden of the cottage because of the cold. The railway station is about 10 minutes walking and the service is very good, except on Christmas: close very early these days and on Christmas day even London underground is closed! But the village was OK for a winter walk: there is a palace (closed on Christmas....) and nature. The neighbourhood is quiet and beautiful, with victorian houses as the cottage itself. It´s really takes you 20 minutes in train to arrive at London Bridge and the Travelcards for all day-all transports costs only 5,90 GB. To sum up, a great apartment, great hosts and great stay! Thank you very much, Alan and Lana. Hope see you soon! Garcia Family

Super Holiday for friends & family Eltham & London

We loved the Cottage and our Hosts - Lana and Alan were very gracious and kind. They provided infomation for in and around Eltham and London. The even made arranagments to have a cab pick us up at the airport! Outstanding human beings and outstanding customer service. The cottage was clean and warm. My Mom enjoyed the gas fireplace and old fashioned tub in the master bedroom. Eltham is a beautuful city with its own amenities. We did some exploring of this city and would recomend it to anyone who visits the London area. Public transportation was within walking distance and the most economical way to travel. A well appointed property, fine restaurants and excellent services. We will be back! Happy Holidays, Robert and family!

Excellent stay in London

We are a family of 5 (3 kids at the ages of 6-14), stayed at the property for 5 nights - And in short - it was a great stay. The place is luxurious with plantey of room for all of us. Lana and Alan welcomed us warmly, helped with friendly advices and addressed any issue that we had promptly (there were not many). There place is in a nice neighbourhood and located few minutes walk from two train stations. It is served by bus for evenings that we were too tired and lazy even for such short walk). There is also a large grocessery store near by so you can get your freshly baked bread in the morning. To summarize, great place to stay for a family, convinient location - I would call them first next time I'm in London. Cheers, Jacky

Best choice!!!

We really enjoyed staying in the penthouse. It is gorgeous! We found the property clean, tidy, and well designed. It was delightful to come in such a nice place at evening, after a long day in the city centre. Hope to come back soon!

May Half Term family stay for London sightseeing

We found the property in a lovely part of Eltham and superbly positioned for commuting in and out of London (train station within walking distance). The vast garden was a complete bonus so the children could let off steam after a busy day sightseeing. The property is beautifully designed and has good living and bedroom space. The free standing bath in the main bedroom is heavenly for a good soak! The information pack could have been a little more extensive in terms of providing information on local restaurants/amenities. On our departure we chanced on a Gastro Pub that would have been very useful to know about earlier. All in all though a very enjoyable week!

-Julia Beck,    25 May 2008

Assolutamente consigliato
